# Privacy Policy for WhereToFind

## Overview

WhereToFind helps users browse businesses, categories, and districts, then open contact links or map locations for those businesses. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app processes, how that information is used, and the choices available to users.

## Information We Process

### Business listing information

The app retrieves business listing content from our Supabase backend, including:

- business names
- category and subcategory data
- profile and gallery images
- address information
- public phone numbers
- public social media links
- map coordinates provided for business locations
- opening and closing hours

This information is displayed so users can discover and contact businesses.

### App usage information

When a user opens a vendor detail page, the app sends the selected vendor identifier to our backend to record a visit count. This is used to measure listing engagement inside the app.

### Device-stored preferences

The app stores the following preferences locally on the user’s device using on-device storage:

- selected app language
- selected light or dark theme

These preferences remain on the device and are used only to remember the user’s app settings.

## Information We Do Not Collect

WhereToFind does not require account registration and does not intentionally collect:

- name, email address, or government-issued identifiers
- contacts, call logs, SMS, photos, or files from the device
- precise device location from GPS or background location
- microphone or camera data
- payment information
- advertising identifiers for ad targeting

## How Information Is Used

We process information to:

- provide searchable business listings
- show public contact and location details for businesses
- remember the user’s language and theme choices
- understand which listings are opened most often
- maintain app reliability and improve the service

## Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information.

Information processed by the app may be handled by service providers that support app operation, including:

- Supabase, which hosts the backend database and content delivered to the app
- Apple App Store and Google Play services when users access store-related features such as ratings and reviews

Public business listing information may also lead users to third-party services when they tap external links such as phone calls, maps, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, or web pages. Those services operate under their own privacy policies.

## Data Retention

Locally stored preferences remain on the device until the user clears app data or uninstalls the app.

Backend engagement logs are retained only as long as needed for app operations, analytics, and recordkeeping.

## Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information processed by the app. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

## Children’s Privacy

WhereToFind is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

## International Processing

Depending on the hosting and infrastructure providers used to operate the app, information may be processed in countries other than the user’s country of residence.

## Your Choices

Users may:

- change language and theme settings inside the app
- stop using the app at any time
- remove locally stored preferences by clearing app data or uninstalling the app
- avoid opening external links if they do not want to use third-party services

## Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material updates will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this document.
